"... the point is not to make something perfect, but is actually to just make a thing." Wil Wheaton
(I'm a complete-ist, and this is as far along his journey as I've gotten. It's interesting reading blogs from decades ago, knowing what's coming in the universal timeline.)
So, I made a thing, and I was chuffed. Thing One picked out the fabrics as a gift to his bestie, Jesse.
I sent this to him in an email, saying:I’m tickled with the results! I’m glad you mentioned the embroidered bit you noticed in the drawer.
To which he replied:
That looks amazing!! I'm sure Jesse will be thrilled.
Then I did some backward research, for some damn reason, and after revisiting this blog entry I realized the silver rose wasn't right (the one thing I remembered over the years was that Jesse's symbol was all black):
Aw fuck! I just realized that’s your RWBY character’s symbol!
My son, bless him, didn't fork around and gave it to me straight:
omg, I completely didn't realize.
My reply:
Will do. I couldn’t rationalize it either.
So tonight, now that my eyes are no longer competing for the Jeopardy category of "Itchy Things", I donned my cheaters and unstitched that precious embroidered bit. It took mere moments, and wasn't as big a PITA as we feared.
NOW it's a thing I'm proud to give away.
Great rescue!
