Reading Material

I'd mentioned an interesting brown fabric I found at clearance price at the Wisconsin quilt show, but had forgotten to post a picture of it then. Since it was hanging around waiting for the next load of laundry to accumulate (I hate to run the machine just to spin out rinsed fabrics), I took a photo.

Huh.

I hadn't really looked closely at it before. "Unrelated words", I thought when I saw it. "Signs, or book spines."

"I'll take 'Things heard in the Library' for $100, Alex!"

Wrong on all counts.

On another front, all the elements of the Arkansas Cross Road borders are done and ready to be assembled into two long strips.

There are 18 "O" segments on the ironing board. There are also 4 extra 8-patches on the design wall, exactly the number I would've needed if I had made 22 "X" segments. But I didn't need 22 "X" segments--I only needed 20. As it happens, the 8-patches are 2.5" wide, the same width as the strip I'll be using for four more lines in the top, so they may end up supplementing this roll of strings and scraps:

The "four more lines" are the outermost borders and the lines between the center and the Cross Road strips:

Maybe I'll have a flimsy by this time tomorrow!
