The title refers back to this post, in which I claimed I'd be making three more backs that month. Owa tagoo siam! (It's nearly impossible to find a relevant clip of that Odd Couple episode ["The Exorcists"], but I really wanted to link it here!)
I did manage to make two more backs this week, but that was after getting a head start on this:
Nann had commented, "The black/white top might benefit from some improv cutting and bright inserts." Which tickled me, because it had been included with lots of this in the orphaned bag:
So many random slashes and bright inserts! None of which spoke to me in the slightest. Not in the least little bit.
These looked to be blocks created for/from a class, probably held by a local artist and featuring her technique called "Dance with the Wall". They've since been trimmed back to usable (by me) sizes and tucked into my Scrap User's System stash.I figured I'd cut the 24"x36" black & white piece into 6" squares and see what could be done with them, but when I started to put cutter to fabric I realized the piece was already composed of 6.5" squares (mostly). When I unstitched everything and trimmed all to a consistent size, I ended up with twenty-four 6-1/4" squares.
I'd thought originally of framing the squares in solid colors, but I've a huge hunk of heavy-weight, decades-old, ombré-dyed fabric that I decided would make a good initial framework. There was enough of that to frame more than the first 24 squares, so I expanded my vision from a 4x6 layout to a 5x7 layout.
Obviously I'd have to add eleven more squares, which I succeeded in doing with two more fabrics from the CF!Q stash, and a small piece from my own stash (the music fabric).
These are now sitting in one of the POUT drawers, biding their time and waiting their turn.

The focus of this one was that odd blue jeans fabric.
Anything I could find in blues and golds was fair game for this back.
No plans for the rest of this holiday weekend, so I'll probably finish up the final back I'd planned out with my spreadsheet. Lots of BOM squares and pieces involved with that one!
You've rescued that top very nicely. The frames are just right, and you get to use up some long-in-the-stash fabric as well.
