The last stitch went in this afternoon and it's ready to go to my mom tomorrow.
I "pigma'd" the stems of the apples. There was a LOT of pen work on this one! |
The original spines and covers of the books on mom's 'shelf':
I know darn well none of this means anything to her. It was all for me, but The Loud was very interested in the project and seeing the final result (especially when I informed him they were all banned).
I ended up quite short of the 1"/book of the plan, mainly because I pulled most of the spine strips from my string bin, and by (my) definition they're less than 1.5" wide. That's why Out of Darkness was added at the last minute.
I'm very pleased with the thread I used for "October", and surprised it did so well on the embroidery machine. It's a YLI machine quilting thread named, appropriately, "Harvest":
My goofy boycat kept getting trapped in my studio, despite my best efforts to account for all tails and paws, and I've finally figured out why. This is his new sleeping spot:
You don't see a cat? Neither did I for the longest time. He's behind the hanging flimsies, with just a little bit of his tail showing. What a nut.
I would also have failed on the game of spot the cat. Have the banners survived for next year or do they lose themselves?
ReplyDeleteI swap each one out and take the "expired" banner home. They'll be recycled starting February 2024.
DeleteOnly one banner lost itself--April's--but I found it and put it back together again. (https://cbottsprojects.blogspot.com/2023/04/april-prep.html)
