These have been done for at least a week, but I haven't had a chance to get with my tall hairy-legger to take the quilt photos until today. The blocks were a Quiltville Leader-Ender Challenge from 2019, Shoo, Fly, Shoo!

The back is an Ikea duvet cover I found in GoodWill many years ago, lengthened with inserts of mixier-match rectangle blocks. As planned, the binding is the last of the blue fabric used in the sashing and 4-patch posts.
I quilted it using these threads (the King Tut in the bobbin--it was perfect against the duvet cover fabric).
There's no label yet--when I'm ready to donate it, there are plenty of places in the mixier-match blocks where I can write in the information.
I got March's banner on Mom's walker on Tuesday. I used a wet pressing cloth when ironing the embroidered interfacing, and there was far less wrinkling than occurred in February.
The current project under a needle is a black and silver top to wear on stage next weekend at the annual Sweet Adeline Regional Competition. I found a black and silver faux wrap dress at GoodWill that made me look as though I was in my 30s again . . .
. . . when I was 9 months pregnant. There's enough fabric for bell sleeves and some playful peek-a-boo pleats set into some black tablecloth fabric I brought home with me from Oregon (too slinky and unstable to use in quilting). Looks as though I'll be pulling my duct-tape double out of the closet for some play time!
I like the shoofly setting and I really, really like the back! Fun walker bag, again.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog! Absolutely gorgeous scrappy shoofly quilt! And I love the back! A fun walker bag too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Astrid! The walker thingies aren't bags, merely banners (although I did find some toilet paper stuffed up under the name section today, so my mother is finding a way to make it carry stuff!)
DeleteI'll also add: my mother's full Norwegian--her ancestors settled in Minnesota a couple of generations ago. I'm half Viking and proud to claim it!
