Wraith has very deliberately kicked the towel out of his way. |
I didn't think I'd want to part with this, as I love the Bowtie pattern and all the fabrics in this one bring fond memories. But I also couldn't entirely convince myself we needed yet another large quilt in the house. As I kept quilting and my eldest son's description "organic" ran through my head, I suddenly knew where this quilt would find its forever home: with his dear and lifetime friend, Jesse.
Jesse on left, eldest son Carl on right. |
During a visit last year, Jesse had flippantly asked, "What does someone have to do to get a quilt from you?", to which I answered rather snarkily something to the effect of having been borne by/born to me. I've regretted my response and attitude because Jesse has become, over the years, as much a part of the family as both my sons. Now I need to put my feelings into words for a nice label for his quilt.
As I progressed around the circles, quilting petals into neutrals, there appeared another reason why I thought I couldn't give this quilt away:
The fading that had occurred from the uncovered window made this top seem unworthy of any recipient. I couldn't give damaged goods away as a gift!
But as every citizen of these United States knows, you can always trump reality with a Sharpie.
